Torn trailer light cable - 189FBR

Hey folks,
On our last trip the darn trailer wiring harness for the trailer light loosened enough, dragged on the ground, and shredded half the conductors. I have a new harness but once underneath, I see the cable runs up and in to the camper. I see no real junction box. Has anyone just added a junction box behind the trailer tongue so you could change/repair as needed?

No, but there is no reason you could not put in a junction box. That's what I would do.
The wiring will be pretty straightforward, just match up the colors (or use a continuity tester.) Don't forget to disconnect the battery.

I did just that yesterday, we go camping today. It worked out well. But like you said be sure to disconnect battery.

I couldn't help but notice the indoor romex clamps for both cable entrances. They do make water tight connectors for wet locations. If your are not somehow sealed, the box will take on water from road spray. You might consider RTV silicone to help keep water out. Loosen the clamps and get the RTV flowed in all around the cable & retighten clamps.

Good catch, They were out of those so used what I had. And before tightening up, a poop amount of clear, waterproof, sealant. And it all worked!
