Default Water pump issues

I continue to fight winterizing 😡

I received the winterization Kit - easy install. Still the pump doesn’t want to pump. It pulled antifreeze just above the spout of the bottle than nothing. I jiggled the hose and it started - but ultimately only pumped a half gallon them gave up. By all appearances the pump is newish - it is not the original (mounted by only two screws in different holes...)

I pulled the pump - it seems clean and in working order. No leaks and it draws some air when I hold the hose out of the bottle.

I didn’t see any obvious was to prime the pump - and once it started drawing was clearly primed anough for a bit.

I’ve checked and rechecked the valves - I disconnected and capped the city water inlet. There’s only one place it can be drawing from. No signs of any leak anywhere else in the system - it drew fluid to the farthest tap before it gave up again.

Is the pump just a dud? I feel like there has to be a simpler explanation...it’s making me feel like a dunce!

Just a thought, are any of the wiring connections loose? If so it might not be getting the full 12V and could explain the intermittent on/off.

I was wondering about that too - so I did check the connections and I even hooked up the generator to ensure I was getting full power.

I'm reasonable convinced it just wasn't priming properly. In the spring I'll fill up the fresh water tank and see what happens.
