Default What do you think of this almost fire

We just finished our first trip with the xt330 to shake out some problems the radio was loose so I had to get a screw driver to tighten so I thought I would pull it out and have a look pictures should show what I saw I can't figure out how to load photos of bunt antenna cable from my phone if any one can help with that I will post

I guess I have to post the pictures to photo bucket any way the antenna wire was completely melted and stained the wood on the cabinet that the wire laid against not sure if the radio shares the tv antenna which has a booster

WOW, and the radio was working?
It's a bit hard to tell from the photo but that almost appears to be more of some type of chemical attack since the shielding where it's torn open doesn't appear to be blackened. The edge of the radio case also appears to be corroded. But maybe that's just from the camera flash. There really shouldn't be any current to the antenna cable - unless something inside the radio is shorted.

Yes the radio worked great after doing some research I think we have a ground loop problem something is using the antenna as a path to ground I will be putting a volt meter on the ground and turning on devices

Did not happen on our trip no smell or smoke detectors signal also no other electronic devices have problems i thinking we bought it that way

My radio stopped working last fall on our last trip. The fuse blew in the fuse box and there is a short to ground. Haven't looked for the problem yet, but I will be pulling the radio to have a look rel soon now that I seen those pics.
