Default 2011 Frontier SL pulling a 215WSK

Lots of valuable information in this forum, thanks to all of the contributors. I've finally settled on the FF 215 WSK, I pick it up in 2 weeks. The dealer weighed the unit at 4155 with tanks. After considering the numbers, and using a P3 controller and Equalizer WDS/Sway Control, I think it should be fine.

After considering vehicle weight, trailer weight, 500 lbs of cargo in the trailer, weight of people, fuel etc, I look to be about 2200 lbs under GCVWR.

With 500 lbs of cargo in the RV, properly loaded, I should be 1,845 below towing capacity.

I should be 220 lbs below max tongue weight.

The 125'' wheelbase is at the upper limits of trailer length.

Having said this, I will probably do a "test tow" and pick up a 189 if it's to much. The weight, width, and features are the reason I chose the fun finder. I'd prefer the 189 but my wife likes the 215. Im fairly certain the 189 wouldn't be a problem to tow.

Flat land where I live, about 80 miles each way for camping.

As much as I would love to see a post with this exact setup, I haven't. Based on the above info, does anyone think I'm nuts?

Well I hope it works for you. I have a pathfinder and would love to buy a 210 moddel. Please let us know how you make out.

Default Congrats

Numbers sound okay.

But there's a big difference between the 215WSK and the 189.

Have you considered the 210UDS? It's right in the middle for length, 3 feet shorter than the 215WSK and 3 feet longer than the 189. But it features a walk around bed and a good sized bathroom. Maybe she'll be okay with that?

Just for consideration.

I like the 210. She's stuck on the swivel TV. Another member pulled a 214 with a pathfinder without any issues. Seems to be pretty close to the 215. The dealer is 3 hours away and doesn't have any 189's. I think the test tow will be the only way to know for sure.

I pull a 189FDS with a '06 Frontier ( 4WD CC, 4.0L, 6 speed manual ) and it pulls it well. My trailer weighs 3780 as it sits right now according to the trip over the CAT scales.
Having said that, considering the combination of that weight and the ungainly aerodynamics of this whole rig, I really don't think I would want to go much more than this.
