Do you have a trailer brakeaway kit on your travel trailer?

A breakaway switch/kit is a system that applies the trailer brakes automatically should the trailer separate from the tow vehicle.

Nearly all states, by law, require a breakaway kit on every trailer that weights 2,000 pounds or more.

Do you have one on your camper?

Since most of our trailers have electrically actuated brakes you also need a good battery installed or they won't work when the emergency actuator engages.

Yup I got one set up on my camper. I hope I never need to use it but it's just one of those "Just in case" things IMO.

Just clicked on that link. I have installed kits just like that one on trailers at work. Simple to install and use. But if you want to save money, you can tie the switch part into your camper batteries (if they aren't totally dead). It will work exactly the same. That's how mine is set up.

Yup that is how my xt276 was wired up from the factory. The 'pull out switch' is located on the RH bottom side of the A frame tongue.
