Default Haul Master WDH

Hi all, I picked up a new (to me) X275 last week. I bought a WDH from Harbor Freight. I drove almost 500 miles to get the camper, so I very quickly installed the WDH and hit the road. It wasn't too bad, but could be better. When I got home I started working on setting it up correctly. After taking before and after measurements of the front end I am finding there is no difference in the front end height of my pickup. The issue is that I cannot get good tension on the bars. The hooks on the brackets have a bad angle that won't allow me to connect the chains. Anyone have experience with this WDH? I am also considering air bags. In the end I think I will take this WDH back and buy a better quality WDH.

I use a Equilizer with sway and its fairly easy to set up. I can't transfer much squat to my front truck axle mostly due to the long wheelbase of my truck. I don't worry about that to much as long as the truck and camper are level on e tension is applied to the bars. I rarely have to use the pry bar to push tension bars into the saddles unless the ground is awkward. Typically the trailer toungue jack wil lift truck and hitch high enough to just push tension bars onto the saddles. Find some level ground take your measurements and setup should be fairly easy. Hitch ball angle is the key to setting the whole thing.

The dealer I purchased my toy hauler from also sold the Equal-i-zer hitch system. I liked the fact it didn't use dangling chains. The dealer set it up and on the 400 mile trip home went thru a thunderstorm and wind ......... handled like didn't even know it was behind me even in wind and meeting/passing semis.
