Default Just saying....

Hi!

I am new here, we just bought a Shadow Cruiser, 195wbs, and we love it! I just wanted to say that we are towing it with my 2006 Jeep Liberty, and it tows fantastic. I heard so many negative things before we bought the trailer, about towing with a Liberty, and just thought I would say that we have not found any of it. We had a Reese, dual cam WD hitch with Sway control installed, and it is amazing. We never go over 90km/hr and we have no problems with sway or stopping ect. The Liberty never goes over 3000 rpm, and that is on a steep hill, usually it runs between 1500 and 2000.

My tow capacity it 5000lb, and we must be pretty close to that when we are loaded, it is 3300 lb dry.

I think it's funny that big trucks tow trailers 10 x the size of their trucks, and comment on the safety of SUV's hauling small trailers.

Anyway, just my positive thoughts on towing with a Jeep! We love the trailer, it is just the right size and like I said, it hauls great!

Happy Camping!

We have a FF 198FDR (no slide, weighs a few hundred pounds less than yours), and we tried towing it with our '06 liberty for about 1.5 miles, never going over 50mph on perfectly flat land. After that short jaunt I told the wife no way i'm putting that thing on *any* highway and feeling safe

A few weeks later we decided on getting a '04 grand cherokee with a 4.7L HO (265hp/330 lb-ftt) and i feel *way* safer in that setup. To each his own, but I don't know that our liberty would have managed to pull the trailer up the steep grades we traverse here int he west. Not sure where you're from, I imagine somewhere pretty flat

lol, no not flat! lots of hills, some pretty steep, the Jeep does great. I think it has a lot to do with our hitch, we invested in the best, and it has paid off. The hill leaving our house is pretty straight up and down and the Jeep doesn't rev over 2500 rpm. Power is definitely not an issue, the short wheelbase can be, but we have virtually no sway with our hitch. Stopping is no problem either, of course we have brake assist if we need it.

I did find some positive towing experiences when I was considering it, and am glad I went through with it!

We are definitely good with the Liberty, and the money we put into the hitch set up as well.
