Default Location of brake controller box

I have a 2006 Honda Pilot EX.

The brake controller was installed by UHAUL below the dash around where my left knee sits.

When I get out of the Pilot, I keep banging that darned thing. Also, I can't really see it when I'm towing unless I look down low between the spokes of the steering wheel.

I was thinking of having it moved to be on TOP of the dash, on the left side, near the speaker. I don't think it would cost much. A mechanic would just need to cut a small hole in the corner of the dashboard for the wires and somehow attach screw the brake controller to the dashboard. The brake controller is already installed, so as long as the mechanic hooked it up to the same wires as before, he needs to know nothing about the initial installation of the brake controller.

Has anyone had their brake controller moved to a more convenient location in their truck or SUV?

Your comments, suggestions, ideas, etc... would be much appreciated.

Triple-digits in Sacramento this week.

ony problem i could see is that it may not have mounts to be mounted like that, my prodigty can only be mounted under something. another thing is i wouldnt have anyone cutting holes in the dash, you can prob have someone run them upto the top without cutting, a large hole in the dash will really kill resale

I agree with jeepguy on NOT cutting holes in the dash, thats bad juju! A good installer should be able to run the wires between the dash and windshield, or dash and "A" pillar. For optimal performance, it should be mounted where you can easily reach and engage, or adjust, while driving. Most controllers I have seen come use a "C" bracket to mount to the vehicle, it should be able to be mounted pretty much anywhere. Is there space on the center console, someplace in easy reach of your right hand?
