Lug wrench and lug tightening

I got a FF X-139 last year; April 2009.

On the side it warns you to tighten the lugs every x miles, as well as after winter storage.

I went to an RV dealer today, just for fun, and while walking around the lot, I saw that EVERY other trailer had this warning.

I asked the dealer about this, and they recommended it. They also said that generally, trailers don't come with lug wrenches because the manufactures are worried about liability; they prefer if you have a flat, to call AAA. Which I would do. But I just want to tighten the lugs, not change the tire.

When I got home, I looked in the trailer; no lug wrench. I guess the prior owner never bought one.

I have two questions.

1) Do most of you carry a lug wrench in your trailer and tighten the lugs after the first summer trip or before a long road trip?

2) I guess I could try trial-and-error, but what is the most likely lug size for a FF X139, the smallest? 14 feet, including hitch?

I carry a plug kit and a compressor,unless I have a blowout i wont have to remove the tire.
Fix a flat in a can is good for an emergency repair on the road also.

My trucks lug wrench fits my trailer,check the one in yours to see if it fits.

I beleve most trailer inspection shops check the lugs,ask to make sure.

The lug nuts are 3/4 inch jacketed, 11/16 if the jacket is been stripped off.
The lug nuts should be torqued to 90 ft lbs.
I use a 3/4 inch deep socket and a torque wrench, 1/2 inch drive which I brought at Harbor Freight for less than $20. Yes it is a cheap torque wrench but it will do the job for tightening the lug nuts with a -2/-4 % error.
I check the torque on a regular basis but never have found them out of spec.

I have a 07 189 and after 10000 miles I have had no problem with lug nuts.I do have to add air before each trip to keep the tires at 50 lbs.
I also carry a good quality air pump that has enough air hose to air the trailer when plugged into the truck.

Like RADAR pointed out the lug nuts are 3/4". I have a 4 way lug wrench in my TV that I've had for years. I also have a 3/4" deep socket & a ratchet in my tool kit. I check them periodically and have never found one loose.

Funny.

I tried a 3/4 regular wrench; too small.

I tried a 7/8 regular wrench; too big.

In between is 13/16, which I can't find.

Could it possibly be 13/16, or is it supposed to be a very tight fit? I can't get 3/4 on with a regular wrench no matter how hard I try.

I called a tire store. He said 13/16 is another common size lug for RV's.

I think it's 13/16.

A 6 pt. deep socket 13/16 is often used for spark plug removal, and easily found at at auto parts store.

I got a 13/16 lug wrench.

Fits perfectly.
