Default Towing fun finder X160

Hello I am going to be new to towing. We just purchase a 2007 fun finder x160. I have been assured that my Ford Escape v6 with towing package will be able to tow this trailer. I am looking for any advice that people are willing to throw my way. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Conrats on the trailer and welcome to the Fun Finder Family!!

My only advice would be to set aside the next available Sat or Sun morning, get up at dawn, hook up the trailer and take it to a large empty parking lot and practice turns, braking, backing up, etc. Getting an hour or two of practice in a safe environment really helps to get a feel for the trailer, especially backing it into a defined space.

The 160 is a great trailer and is a great match for your truck. Remember to give yourself extra space when braking and turning, but after a couple trips you will have it down.

Good luck and have fun with your trailer!!

I am new to this too! I have an Mitsubishi Outlander V6, so about the same as the Escape. Although I am good for weight restrictions etc, I discovered some much needed improvements that I need to get done to make this safer and easier to pull. I will be getting an equalizer hitch / weight distributing hitch installed and some airbags. I hooked it up wet for the first time this weekend and it really pulled on the vehicle and caused the rear to sag. I am optimistic that the airbags into the rear coils and the WDH will make the world of difference.

I am also looking forward to taking this out and touring around a few empty parking lots once the modifications adjustments are done.

I started with a Jeep Cherokee 4.0 V6 with tow package, but soon found the rear end pulling way down, so we put on heavy-duty air shocks and a stabilizing bar...made all the difference in the world.

Watch the temp gauge for overheating of the tranny...if it gets high you might consider a better transmission cooler...it's like a small extra cooler/radiator added in front of the main radiator in most tow packages, and is mainly for keeping the transmission cool. Many fear engine overheating, but the thing to watch is the transmission (on hills/mountains especially). If your's doesn't have one, get it...transmission repair is the worst expense on your SUV!
