Default Towing/Maneuvering a long TT

I am considering buying a Shadow Cruiser 313BHS with an overall length of 35'5". I have towed car haulers and a 24' hybrid camper borrowed from a friend but never anything nearly this long. My TV is an F250 CC with a short bed so the overall length of my rig will be between 56-57' long. Obviously I would have to watch getting stuck in some tight places and be careful on some turns just like when pulling any trailer. My real question is how much trickier is it pulling/maneuvering the longer trailer compared to the shorter ones? Will it be a considerable difference in managing turns and backing into spots?

Thanks in advance for any input.

Default long trailer - another factor

RDSR6,

I have not pulled a trailer of that length, but I have been told that longer trailers are more subject to sway than shorter ones, especially with a side wind.

For some 12 or so years I transported mobile homes from 8' x 40' to as large as 16' wide and 85' long.

Be sure to provide adequate room when you turn as the trailer will cut the corner tighter than the tow vehicle.

As for backing into a spot, the longer the trailer, the slower the rear reacts to the turning of the tow vehicle. It's far more difficult to back a short 8' long trailer than a 85' one....... in my opinion.

Yes, wind can be an issue as the longer the towed unit, the more a side wind will push on it and move it from being 'in line' with the tow vehicle. When I was towing mobile homes, it was illegal to tow one when the wind was in excess of 25 miles per hour.

I'm about the same length with my XT 276 and truck. This was my first trailer that I owned and the only thing I have to watch for is cutting right hand corners too close. Other than that I forget it's back there.
