You need to be careful when using a WDH on a unibody frame that is way beyond what your frame can handle. You want to get one rated as close to the hitch weight as possible. Your hitch weight is 500 pounds but the WDH you listed has a hitch weight of 1200 pounds. What that means is if you get into a severe dip or hump in the road, your frame could bend before the spring bars do. You would be better off getting a WDH that is for hitch weights no more than 600 pounds.

Kia's recommendation to not use a WDH is probably their way of covering their a$$. In my case, I have a Toyota Highlander and use a WDH rated for a 600 pound hitch weight and 6000 pound trailer weight. The Highlander is a unibody frame and Toyota has given mixed signals regarding the use of a WDH. I've been using this hitch for 5 years with no issues. That being said, I'm not sure a 16 foot trailer is big enough to benefit much from a WDH. For its size, maybe all you need is a good sway bar.

I doubt you even need a WDH but if your Kia squats in the back you may need to assess how to lift it to achieve a level ride. This could be done by changing the rear springs to some with a higher spring rate or determining whether some type of overload might be installed. It appears air bags are produced for some years: https://www.sdtrucksprings.com/index...%20(Air%20Lift) I have used such air bags inside on our Suburban rear coils with great success as I only increase the pressure while towing.
