xt-245 towing question

What's everyone do when towing a loaded FF down a long steep grade. I tow with a Titan and have yet to dry camp will be possibly over 4th of July. So just looking for opinions. I'll be hauling 2 ATVs 1 smaller 1 bigger full size and fresh water. I know I will be going up and down some hills.

Do you down shift? I have tow mode but not sure its enough for long downhill pulls.

2005 Titan pulling a 210UDS. Prodigy brake controller and equal-i-zer weight distribution hitch. Have automatic transmission. Have driven from TN to OR and am now heading back east.
I put the tow mode on and select the manual shift option. It automatically shifts but when going downhill I have put it in 3rd to help stay off the brakes.

Loaded we are at roughly 7500#'s in a XT-276. I use my Tundra's sequential shift mode for downhill drives and straight up tow/haul button for every thing else. Typically it takes 3rd gear and a few brake taps on long 8% type grades to keep it under control. I have a prodigy brake controller.

I've not had any issues with my xt276. On a long downgrade the big thing is to NOT let the towed load 'push' the tow vehicle.

Sometimes it's best to use your brake controller to apply the trailer brakes only without applying the tow vehicle brakes. More braking applied to the trailer than the tow vehicle will aid in maintaining control.

Just my experience from towing mobile homes up to 16' wide and 85' long in my younger years.
