Default 139X Bunk bed mattress thickness ?

We just bought a 139x fun finder and the upper bunk was removed. So we rebuilt the frame and know need the mattress. Can someone tell us how thick the foam is and is it one piece or two so it can be folded up. Thanks

twowheels, I'm assuming this is for a child, right? The weight limit on those bunks is about 140 pounds, if I recall correctly. We took our bunk out when we got the trailer and replaced it with a cargo net for bedding.

Again if I recall correctly, the bunk platform folds up for storage. I am pretty sure that our mattress folded up, too -- otherwise, how would it fit after the platform is folded??

The mattress was very thin -- maybe two inches thick. If it is too thick, then it would be difficult to fit the folded mattress on top of the folded bed platform.

We did not use the bunk as a bunk, but I did wonder how the occupant of the bunk would get down from the bunk in the middle of the night to use the bathroom -- the kid would have to step down onto the main bed, and hopefully not on the parents' legs!!

Thanks for the reply profdant139, thought there might be more bunks out there. As indicated the original bunk had been removed for a storage shelf and we have rebuilt the missing bunk panels and stowage brackets based on pictures posted here. Weight is not an issue with grand kids age 3 and 5 but the mattress thickness, density and ability to fold as one or in sections was in question.

This has nothing to do with the bunk, but ProfDan's curiosity about how one gets down from the bunk in the middle of the night to use the bathroom brings us to this ...

We had a little 21' cabin cruiser when I was a kid. It was a small boat of 1950s design and very short on amenities. It had a small cabin with v-berths. No standing headroom. No running water. The head was a galvanized pail under the port berth giving rise to the absolutely factual statement, "you had to get up to go." But it was a fun little boat and we all liked it.

We used that boat every weekend and for vacations, so we all slept aboard a fair bit. My folks each took one of the berths (they were too narrow for two people) and I slept on an air mattress on the deck between them. I will leave the dance to your imagination when any one person in that cabin had to use the head in the middle of the night. Yes, I believe I still have footprints on parts of my body.

A pro pos of absolutely nothing, I found out years later that it was a Chris Craft kit boat, homebuilt in plywood by someone in Essington PA.

I have a 2008 139x, the mattress on the top bunk is about 1 1/2 inch. It's two long pieces that fold up with the bunk when the bunk is up in the folded up position. There is a sticker that says max weight 220 lbs. I leave my bunk down permanently and store clothing and gear on the bunk.

NorthPuffin, that's a great story! It is interesting how many of our favorite childhood memories involve minor disasters or inconveniences!

Thanks for the mattress information 1kotonk. That's exactly what we needed to know.
