Default Advice: Picking up new Fun Finder this weekend.

We have waited 13 long weeks and our new trailer is here, any advice for the inspection/walkthrough? This is not our first trailer, but this is our first time buying new. Any advice would be appreciated - thanks.

Be picky. Start early in the day so they're not rushed by an impending closing time.

When I picked up my most recent one, I had them straighten the window in the back because it was crooked (and made my OCD go into overdrive).

We video recorded our walkaround inspection when we bought new. Never looked at the video, but it seemed like a good idea at the time. My wife took great notes.

I like the video idea, that could be very helpful down the road if there is a problem. Besides that have the dealer walk you through everything. Even if you already know how it works. That way you know it works properly. If not don't accept delivery until it's fixed. Much easier than having to bring it back.

Great idea to video. Buying a new RV is an exciting time but even though we are anxious to tow it home I think it is very important to get as much of the items that aren't right fixed before signing on the dotted line if possible. Depending on the dealer it may not be possible to get it back for repairs in a timely manner. Try to make sure to inspect it carefully when you are there. Look underneath, check out the roof. Open everything. Check the date on the tires.
You are paying for a new, complete unit in excellent shape. You deserve that.

Check everything twice. They should be able to connect water and electricity so you can test run all the appliances and plumbing too.

DO NOT be in a hurry!!!

Default Questions

Ask lots of questions. There are no dumb questions. Just questions. Have them show you how to winterize-is there a water heater bypass? Is there a siphon hose that is used to add RV antifreeze to the water lines. Where is/are the water drain valve(s). How does the water heater work for this model? Gas/Electric. Have them turn on the propane, test the stove, the oven, see the refrigerator pilot light kick on, and the water heater (as long as it's full of water.) Test all lights, kick on the A/C and the heater. How do the stabilizers work? Sewer hoses-where's the black water and gray water valves? Does a sewer hose connect to the trailer?
Better now than after you drive off the lot.
Just my two cents worth. Also hook up and test all lights. And test the breakaway brake switch.
