Wow. So you are starting from scratch, except that it sounds like the awning track is already in place.
If that is true, I don't think you will need to cut the track. I took a picture of the upper end of my front awning arm -- the attachment plate sort of forms a bridge over the track. The photo is not great -- there are some random wires and strings in the shot -- but I think it will give you the general idea:

I am guessing that you are going to order a whole awning set, with arms and hardware included? You might be able to get some or all of what you need at an RV salvage yard, if there is one near where you live.
