Brake issue on 2008 X210 WBS
I just bought this three months ago and took it to the local RV dealer where it was originally purchased. They told me the brake system on this is the same type of brake system they use on boat trailers and they could not understand why this type of brake system was put on this camper? The brake system is broken and I was told there are no parts available any more to replace it! Any suggestions? Has anyone else ran into this problem with their Fun Finder?

Sounds like you need to find a new/better service center.
Either they don't want to provide service and don't want to say so, don't have a clue as to what they're doing or (more likely) they are looking to jack up the cost to you via BS.

Are you saying you have surge brakes on you trailer? Wow. Sounds like it was a redneck retrofit. Not sure what to tell you other than check around and see if there is anyway to repair current system. You may have to have it ripped out and have electric brakes installed.

Even if someone installed surge brakes, they are easy to repair. And, like electric brakes, work very well when properly set up.
Don't understand unless the dealer felt it was perhaps a liability issue..........
That would explain a lot.

My 07 the brakes didn't work right from the word go. Multiple visits to the dealer didn't resolve it. Finally I took it to an I dependent service center and they replaced the entire brake mechanism and it worked.
Hope you have better success with yours.

We also have a 2008 X210 WBS and have no problem with the standard electric brakes. They seem sufficient to provide the braking needed. I've readjusted them a few times but they are still working fine after about 25,000 miles. As do others I find the service center's response troubling and suggest you get another opinion.

I owned a 2009 x210 WBS and never had an issue with the brakes as long as I had them maintained and the wheel bearings, etc., serviced on a regular basis. I never had my RV service dealer say they didn't want to work on them. I DID install a Ford OEM break system on my Ford F150 EcoBoost that fit into my dashboard and the original electrical "hood" fitting and have my system "flashed" to accept the new brake system.
Have you checked your electric breaking connections on your truck/SUV? Have you asked a certified mechanic for your towing vehicle to look at any tow vehicle codes?

Never had any issues with the electric brakes on my unit....they work perfectly.

Since it’s completely possible that repair parts are no longer available for a 13 yr old RV (or maybe just too expensive), the previous owner may have had a “surge” system retrofitted to the travel trailer. We’d have to see some pics of the hitch area to see just how “red neck” the conversion was. (I’m guessing not so much). I agree that maybe getting a “second opinion” is in order. I’ll finish by saying that I am in no way an expert on trailer braking systems but when has that ever stopped anyone from commenting on this forum  !
