I tend to stay in one place for a while, so yes, mid week is enjoyable, but then it's kind of fun to watch all the weekenders arrive friday afternoon with much fanfare...and then go zooming away sunday afternoon, leaving peace and quiet behind

Haha. We retired to a dead-end road and are surrounded by national forest. It's beautiful and quiet here except when the salmon fishermen come to the river a mile north in the spring and fall. So, I guess we really hope we find similar spots to camp. I did buy Jim DuFresne's book Michigan's Best (150 public) Campgrounds to help in the search. He has been updating it since 1992. It is a treasure trove of information. I guess every state would have something like this.
