Exclamation Fried microwave!!!!

Our High Pointe microwave (EM925RYS) just turned itself on, broke the glass turntable and melted the plastic wheeled ring. Soot on the ceiling. Just uncovered the trailer after the winter, so don’t know when it happened. I saw the same thing on another trailer community page a couple of years ago. Anyone have this problem. By the way the instruction booklet has no contact info for the manufacturer.

Wow that is too bad. How cold does it get where you store it?. Funny things happen when the cold contracts materials. May have made contact on the start button when it was cold enough and started the unit?. Just a thought, I removed my microwave and made it into storage as I found that a higher priority than a microwave. Silverado

How could the microwave "turn itself on" when the unit is in storage without 120 V shore cord plugged in and the 12 volt batteries removed?

The microwave will not function without power to it.

I was assuming it was plugged into shore power. I understand the microwave will not run without it. I have been RVing for 30 years, not my first rodeo.

Exclamation

Our camper-van microwave has the analog knobs that can be set to temp and time. It will restart after a power interruption at whatever the settings were before the power went off. We evidently bumped the timing knob once during pack-up and, at the next hook-up, we found it running after I connected to shore power.
Now we check it every single time.....

I've never heard of a digital or touch-pad microwave restarting that way. I may have to double-check ours in the 139 just to be sure.

As I was assuming it happened when in winter storage.....so more clarification from the OP would be most helpful.

Now owned by Patrick Industries. We purchased a Highpointe replacement from these people. Contact them to get info on the manufacturer.
