Neil, that looks like Mono Vista in Lee Vining. Do you have time for some GREAT hikes on the East side of the Sierra, right near Lee Vining? And are you going to spend some time in the Tuolumne Meadows area off of Tioga Pass?

Dan,

We stayed at Mono Vista in Lee Vining on our way to Tahoe. That shot was at Yosemite Pines RV Resort just east of Groveland on the west side of the park. I updated the blog last night with some pics and will try to get up to Tioga Pass and Tuolumne Meadows area today if the weather holds off. It's about 7am now and looking good with afternoon thunderstorms forecast.

We're heading down to Victorville this weekend to visit friends in Apple Valley and then possibly to Orange county if we can find a campsite at one of the state parks.

Sounds like a smart move, Neil. Life has no time for BS.

Perhaps you might fall in love with traveling in your FunFinder again. Who knows, but I wish you safe travels and good times!

Couple of shots from a couple of summers ago. Lake Paradise near Kansas City, MO. That's my 189FDS over there, and the sunset shot that evening was taken right there from waters edge behind the camper.

Great shots (as usual). Is it really that desolate?

It was that week. Only time I've been there. Back in the day ( 1970's ) that was the "happining place" ! Was private then, and sold out.

Thanks for the encouragement Chad but we're still planning on selling the Heart of Gold. Yoly and I have explored every state except Alaska and North Dakota and as I look for a route home now, I can't find any that are new or novel. We'll probably take a very southerly route home to avoid anything that looks like tornado areas. We're in Desert Hot Springs, CA. at the moment soaking up some natural hot mineral baths.

Seems like someone would want a turn-key rig outfitted ready to camp with all the gear including some nice upgrades but no interest so far however from this forum

Making our way home, 400 miles a day at a time. It's Friday and we're spending our last night on the road in Meridian, MS. We'll be home tomorrow night. Hard to imagine that exactly one week ago, we were in Yosemite National Park.

Here's some Fun Finder fun at sunset in Boerne, Texas from 2 nights ago.

This is a shot of our Fun Finder late in the evening, high in the Sierra Nevada (9000 feet!), under the trees next to a sagebrush meadow -- I am hoping that the photo is not too big -- I don't know how to downsize it for posting:

We were camping out in the middle of nowhere, miles from anyone else -- in some of the national forests, they allow "dispersed" camping (which we call boondocking) outside the campgrounds. Very peaceful and remote.

Here's a shot taken during this year's trip. This was in Willamette National Forest in Oregon.

Here's a little fun. This was at Bear Country U.S.A., a wild animal park outside of Rapid City, SD. That's a wolf trying to remove my spare tire cover.

Were you driving down the road while he was trying to get your cover off? Eeek! I mean, isn't that cute.

****

Yoly, in your photo showing the camper at a park, what is hanging like fringe from your black water hose?

No, it's a drive-through park, with different animals in different sections. You cruise through slowly, or stop and shoot on occasion. This area had wolves and bears. Yes, you keep your windows up, and doors locked.
