Default Ike Kinswa State Park

Finding fun at Ike Kinswa this last week. Well, it started out fun, then on the third day the alternator went out on our Jeep.

Yup, been in Bemidji camping ... about 2 years ago and the year before that too.

Great scenery there and also around Walker MN too.

Were were out again this week. We went to Ginko Petrefied Forest State Park in Washington. Came home via Yakima River gorge scenic drive. We camped at Wanapum State Park and Brooks State Park. We have been trying state parks lately in contrast to our usual boondocking.

Some of the campsites from our recent trip --

This is in Utah, in the Uintas, the rockiest boondocking campsite we have ever seen:

This is in Idaho, north of Ketchum, in the Boulder Creek area. The trailer is in the bottom center of the photo:

This is right on the Salmon River, south of Stanley -- probably the best boondocking site we have ever found:

And this is north of Mammoth Lakes, Calif.:

The Fun Finder performed like a champ -- we towed it over lots of very rough forest roads (very slowly), with absolutely no problems. We towed in rain and high winds on lonely Nevada highways -- no problem. We got snowed on (a little) -- no problem. The biggest problem is that eventually we had to come home.

Utah and Idaho look so very much alike...

I can't believe how close we were! Don't you just love the Stanley area? I rafted the Salmon out of Stanley this trip, and wanted to look into their 5-day trip with like 14 Class IV rapids for next year - you have to fly in.

Great pics, as usual. Still shaking my head at how much Utah and north of Ketchum look alike.

ON EDIT: I see you changed out the pics!!! You have to completely clear that site after each pic. I just closed out and re-clicked on the bookmark.

There are bears -- but they are not a problem except in grizzly country. Ordinary black bears run away. But we do hang our garbage high in a tree so the bears do not get into it.

In grizzly country, they tend to stay away from people. The problem is when you come up on a bear and surprise it on a hiking trail. The grizzlies do not like that. So we wear bear bells, and make noise, and carry bear spray. So far, so good . . . .
