Residential Refrigerator

As I start looking for my next camper I’ve noticed a trend to residential refrigerators and electric cooktops. Admittedly they are larger RVs and Motorhomes. If you don’t have electric you need to be running the generator. Given our state parks don’t allow generators, it would require a spot with electricity. I really want a gas range and gas refrigerator. Am I alone in this? Thinking I am if the trend is moving to electric.

Is that really the trend? I thought most RVs/trailers are still built with 2-way refrigerators that can run off of propane and a 12 VDC source. Granted, you could retrofit with an electric only frig and cook top, but that will seriously restricts the camping locations. Also, if this were a trend for refrigerators, how would one keep the food cold on long road trips?

The 5th wheels I looked at, it was common. Motorhomes even more so. I’m not sure how they expect you to keep the food cool…generator? Either way, I want my gas/electric combos.

My best question is a lot of the 5th wheel and moho are going electric. I have read on several different forums about the move towards it. Personally I will stick with the propane. I think it all depends on how you want to camp. I'm not a glamper type. I like to be more rustic. If not for age and health. DW and I would probably be tent camping.

I'd stick with propane. In fact, if I was buying now, I'd go 3 way; gas/110V/12V.
That way you can run it on 12V as you travel and then switch to propane when you get settled.
