Default Sad Day

Weather has been crazy lately with temps in the teens here in Wisconsin last week but near 80 degrees this weekend (Oct 22&23)! Major rain storms expected early in the upcoming week. Anyway, thought that another camping trips was possible before the end of the season but that ship has sailed. Winterized and took my FF to the storage barn today . Usually able to wait until early November but other obligations made this early move necessary. I have a guaranteed spot in a fully enclosed (but unheated) pole barn about 3 miles from my home. Learned today that the former "mouser cat" is now a "house cat" so glad that I doubled down on dryer sheets in addition to CabFresh pouches and mouse poison. Haven't had trouble to date but we'll see in the Spring . Already looking forward to Spring 2023 and we've yet to see snow (that sticks to the ground) . I do imagine that others that live in the Northern tier have also "bedded their FFs down for the season. Just a reminder that Summer is over "for sure" .

I dropped mine off Tuesday for storage - Jefferson county fairgrounds. Very clean. In my summer storage area I got mice. I had the pine bags for mice, they nest right by them. I tried Irish Spring and they actually chewed the soap! I finally opened every area I could located and looked for pipes or wire coming through the floor and filled with rodent protected spray foam. Then I went under and used that black flashing tape (zip systems tape) and sealed it tight. I did cut out a hole and tapes wire screen for a little air and also a drain (should a leak appear). I also got screens for over the water heater and refrigerator openings. I am hoping that does the trick. If not, I’ll try dryer sheets next. They just have ignored any other product I’ve tried.

Surprised to hear about mouse issues in the Summer months! There must be some sort of “attractant” that pulls them in. I hope that your new deterrents do the trick. I bought a box (160 count) of dryer sheets at WalMart for ~$5 and used perhaps 20 or so in addition the the CabFresh pouches. We’ll see when Spring rolls around just how effective they are.

Default Rodent foam

I used the rodent foam on all the pipes, holes, wires, etc. The little buggers chewed it.

The mice up here shredded the dryer sheets and used it for bedding. They ate the Irish spring as well. To me these things are myths. You just have to block all the entrances. There is nothing else that works.
