Default Travel Trailer Newbie Looking at used 2005 189FBR

The ad says it was used 7 times and is in like new condition for $8000 (OBO). Any comment on that model or the price? Its aluminum, not fiberglass. What should I be wary of when buying a used trailer? Thanks.

Do a thorough walkthrough and check everything. Make sure everything works - try it to be sure it works properly. Look in all the cabinets, storage areas for any damage, anything broken or evidence of leaks. Check for any sagging or bulging in the roof/walls, etc.

Here's a link to a prepurchase checklist that should help:

Also ask for the maintenance records & any the manuals for the stove, fridge, awning, roof, etc. You can almost always get the manuals on line if you have to, but it's better/easier if the seller has them.

Are the tires the original ones? If so at 6 years old they are getting a bit long in the tooth and you will probably need to think about replacing them soon. Could be a negotiating point if they are.

Thanks for the tips. I checked NADA for pricing, and it comes in at $4540 for average retail. "Like new" puts its condition above average I'm sure, but it still seems high.

I didn't really pay much attention to the price in your first post, but yes $8000 does seem a bit high for a 2005. On the other hand it probably won't sell fast at that price so it gives you time to shop around and compare.

Your in the drivers seat. Take someone with you who knowes a little bit about trailers. You are probably better to stay away from anything cruser makes. Salty
