Default water pump

before winter I drained my fresh water tank and the water heater on my XT200. Today I was getting it ready for a trip, so I filled up the fresh water tank. When I turned on the water pump, it just kept running.... I was assuming to fill up the water heater..... after 30 minutes it was still running so I shut it off because I was afraid it would burn out the pump... how long should it take to fill up the water heater? or do you think there is some other problem???? I did not find any leaks....

Shouldn't take to long to fill the hotwater tank, make sure all your drin valves are closed, leave one tap open (kitchen) wait till the water comes out then shut it. The system needs to build up pressure.

Hope this helps.

One other potential cause...

I've been known to suffer from CRS before If you winterized, did you turn the valve for the anti-freeze injector (the short hose and valve at the water pump inlet used for pumping anti-freeze in the system) to the "off" position? If you inadvertantly left in the "on" the position after using it to pump anti-freeze through the fresh water system, all your pump was doing is drawing air through the open hose as opposed to water from your tank. Just one more thing to check...been known to happen (don't ask me how I know ).

don't ask me how I now know that if you leave the outside shower faucets open, the water pump tends to not be able to get all the air out of the rest of the lines and does not pressurize.....

Yep... That'll do it!

Always a "learning experience"; good for a few laughs sometimes, too!
