Default Ahhh! School is starting!

We have been in AZ helping with grandchildren the last week before school starts. A camping trip was planned, but parents decided it would be hectic and crowded, so plans were changed.

tomorrow, we go home, pick up our "new" 4Runner, and hope to take a camping trip beginning of next week.

Now, I'm glad camping is popular, I'm glad people are taking their kids camping, I am! I just wish they weren't all camping in our favorite places.

Fall camping is the best, and I can hardly wait!!

Gila wilderness, cliff dwellings, lake Roberts, here we come! And not one minute too soon!

4 runner has a rear window that rolls down, kayaks slide right in!

I bet this is a great time of the year to go camping in your area. Sounds like you have fun things planned.

I do have a personal need to make a few comments about some of the things you said. First school doesn't start here for another month so you are rushing the end of summer in my mind. I still have fun things planned for the summer, before the rain starts. Second, I used to drive Ford Broncos on a lot of gravel roads during the dry season. When you left the rear window down the dust would pour into the vehicle, think about how dirty the back of this type of vehicle gets. I'd suggest a bandana over your nose and mouth for protection. Oh, that might not be a good thing in your part of the wild west.

true, true. when we had kids at home, I dreaded the start of school. Well, sort of.....
it meant the end of camping mid-week anyway. some of my grand kids start next week, a couple of them the week after and two more aren't in school yet. I love them all, but after a week of "nanny-granny duty" I am so ready to find a quiet spot in the woods.

technically, my favorite kayak is an advanced element sport, which is an amazing inflatable. My husband's kayak is the hardshell. good point about the dust and bandanas. maybe just using the roof rack would be better.
either way, I want to go camping, fishing and kayaking!!

In the summer, we look for the 55+ campgrounds when we can find 'em. This time of year a lot of people want a last camping trip with the kids before school starts so there can be lots of kids around.
We love kids we really do (have grands and even greatgrands) but, at our age we like the quiet too.
