Default Free 2017 Canada Parks Passes

Just an FYI. If you're planning a camping road trip to Canada during 2017, As Canada's gift to you, the 2017 Discovery Pass will provide free admission for the entire year to Parks Canada places from coast-to-coast to coast!

With the 2017 Discovery Pass, you will have unlimited opportunities to enjoy national parks, national marine conservation areas and national historic sites across the country!

So - you'll still have to pay for the camping fees - but the park admission is free.

I ordered mine a while back, have already received it. Free means free, not even a charge for shipping!

True.
"Entry into Canada: Canadian law requires that all persons entering Canada carry both proof of citizenship and proof of identity. A valid U.S. passport, passport card, or NEXUS card satisfies these requirements for U.S. citizens.

Children under 16 need only present proof of U.S. citizenship."

And, if you've had a DUI ~ you may never get into Canada.

"Canada may not allow persons with DUI (driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol) convictions to enter their country. A Canadian immigration officer will decide if you can enter Canada when you apply for a visa, an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA), or upon your arrival at a port of entry."

So you know ahead of time.

Thanks for the info! My wife and I live in VT, but rarely consider camping in Canada. Perhaps we will this year.

Hi from Ontario. The pass is not accepted at Provincial Parks, National Parks are beautiful but limited compared to Provincial Parks...our favorite PP is Mac Gregor, Port Elgin.

True. We'll be camping at Agawa in August for a few days.

Just a heads up for those of you looking to use the discovery passes, National Park use and fees such as hotels have gone through the roof. If camping make sure you have reservations as the Campgrounds were already full in the beginning of June and the kids are not out of school yet. The free passes are a nice idea but will change when and how often we will go this year. Just some info for long distance travellers.. Silverado

We reserved our site at Agawa Bay on Lake Superior in April. Yes, very pricy even at this Provincial Park. $200.58 for four nights. Only electric. Strict cancellation fees.
That is twice what we pay for Michigan State Parks.
"
Statement of Reservation:
Camping & Fees: $166.00
Reservation/Admin Fees: $11.50
HST - Reg No R124668666 $23.08
Total Charged to date: $200.58

I goofed. See my comment. Too late to edit per rules. Turns out to be not much more than Michigan State Parks at $26/night.
Mea culpa.

. That's a lot better price wise, but still hubby wouldn't like all the "extra" pricing!

How were your prices on your S. Dakota trip?

Pretty close to what you paid due to having to spend a second night in Nebraska due to storms the next day on our route. If we hadn't had to stay the extra day, then we would have spent about $50.00 less for camping fees! We had to pay for the night at the South Dakota campground that we weren't able to make it for due to their policy!
