Default Minnesota Camping Plans for 2016

Hi all,
Is anyone thinking about 2016 spring camping in Minnesota? I think there are almost as many campgrounds here as there are lakes!

I love to camp and new to the FunFinder (I have used it just 6 months). The trailer has some issues that I can live with and have planned a few upgrades, but I like the trailer and would like to see what others may have done to theirs.

I've gone to northern MN twice w/my XT 276.
Once stayed SE of Bemidji at Walker MN, little RV park corner of hwy 34 & 200 ~ very convenient location, reasonable, quiet and clean. Made lots of outlying trips with the Harley sightseeing. (PS: Do not eat at the chinese restaurant in Walker, wife got food poisoning and sick for 2 days) Great little museum in Walker too.
2nd time stayed at Rv park ajoining the The Grand Casino near Hinckley MN. Nice RV park. Didn't gamble but make lots of sightseeing trips with the Harley, up to Duluth and over into Wisconsin.
Both are great areas!

Happy camping.,

As for upgrades to my XT 276 toy hauler, not many needed.

Replaced the little TV with a much larger one.
Removed the Jensen TV antenna, replaced with a Jack antenna (BIG improvement in reception)
Installed captians rail above the bath cabinet and kitchen cabinets for 'decorative look'
Added a 2nd fire extinguisher in the 'garage'
Added bath lights above the bath medicine cabinet
Installed a Fantastic vent cover over the Fantastic vent fan
Installed LED lights to light the steps into the camper
Tossed the factory joke of a mattress ~ replaced with a quality Sealy mattress
Installed a Condor wheel chock in the garage and double nutted the factory tie down rings.

Hi Eagle,
I appreciate the reply and enjoy the vast quantity and locations of camping spots. We spent a few days last summer in Grand Marais up in the arrowhead and then drove to the end of Gunflint Trail and spent a couple of days there. It was a nice trip and the scenery was fantastic ... But it rained most of the time and limited our hikes a bit.

I would like to make a circle around the east end of Lake Superior from Duluth next year and am trying to talk my better half into it ... I am going to go ahead and plot it out to see what, where, etc.

Thanks for the tips on your upgrades ... I plan to upgrade the lights to LEDs, the less-than-adequate range vent, and the ceiling fan with a vortex before the camping season gets under way in 2916. I like your addition of step lights and may look into that as well.

Thanks again ...

I'm in Minneapolis. I have not been to many here in Minnesota. Just got our trailer last year. Went to a place north of Brainerd last year. I forget the name. It was still under construction. Been to both of the KOA's in Maple Grove, and Jordan. An I think its a KOA just south of Duluth. Don't remember. Was nice though. Would go back for sure. I have a Shadow Cruiser 280qbs. Only complaints are the tires. Will put new ones on as soon as I get it out of storage. Look forward to seeing more Shadow Cruisers/Fun Finders out and about. Went to South Dakota and didn't see any.

I'm in South Dakota and haven't seen many here either. In '12 when I purchased mine, went to Omaha to buy it 'cause no FF dealers in SD.

I've seen a vary few in my travels but when attending the annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally two years ago, another XT 276 of the same year parked along side me. They were from several states away IIRC.
