16 ft top side bunk

We have a 16ft with the two single bunks on the side. Has anyone taken this bunk out of your unit? We are looking for a way to store light wight clothing and thought of building cabinets here instead. If not cabinets, what have you tried?

We have the FF X-139. We removed the overhead bunks and made an open cabinet/shelf for our linens, pillows and blankets. Works well. Just make sure not to get screws that shorter then the outside walls. Don't want to got through the walls.
