of the factory rims on a 2012 Fun Finder XT-276?

The unit came with 205/75/15 tires which I am going to replace.

I'm debating between the same size tire or 225's which require a wider rim than the 205's....so would like to know the rim width.

Thanks in advance.

SURPRISE SURPRISE !!

I looked closely at my tires today and checked the date codes on them.

The camper was purchased new in 2012 so 'assumed' the tires were reaching their 7th birthday and time to replace them, although they don't show much tread wear, just a little sidewall checking.

The date code is 26/10 and 27/10 meaning they were mfg the 26th and 27th month of 2010 and put on a 2012 camper by the factory!

THE TIRES WERE TWO YEARS OLD WHEN PURCHASING THE CAMPER! :-(

So instead of going on 7 years old, the tires are going on 9 years old. :-O

Yup........time for new tires.

I would have never thought two year old tires would be put on a new camper at the factory. :-(

No surprise to me. The RV industry is famous for stuff like that. They will buy lots of old stock items from tires, audio-visual equipment, appliances, wiring, ignition lights and etc. I have seen the same model and year have different changes like total different headlights in motor homes because they ran out of the cheap discounted type the had bought at the beginning of the production run. Good on you for checking Eagle. Silverado

Correction: The date code 26 & 27/2010 is the 26th & 27th WEEK (not month) of 2010 the tires were manufactured.

UPDATE: With camping season here and trip planned in about 2 weeks, I searched locally and on line and ordered 4 new Goodyear Endurance ST205/75R15 tires ~ same size that came on the camper.
Best price found was on line at Discount Tire for $370 and get a $50 rebate credit card so final cost will be $320....and can get them mounted/balanced locally for $10 each, so an end cost of $360. I'm happy.

Surprise Surprise again!

I placed my tire order on line with Discount Tire along with a note the tires shipped could not be more than 4 months old on the date code or delivery would be refused.

About 3 hours later, Discount Tire called and stated they had located a set of 4 tires with a mfg date in April of this year. They were located at a warehouse in AZ and it would take about 5 or 6 days for them to arrive. HEY- NO PROBLEM!!!

I am super pleased, getting tires made last month!

Now THAT IS CUSTOMER SERVICE !!!

:)

Eagle you hi-jacked your own thread. LOL :)

Glad you never had a blow out with those tires.
The good thing is almost everyone who reads this should go out to their rig and check their date codes! By posting that info you may save someone a lot of heartache.

BTW I've always had Discount Tire go above and beyond the rest. Been buying there for years.

No one could provide the rim width initially requested so went with the same size tires the camper came with. The 225 size requires a wider rim than 205's from what I read on the net. If chronological order of events is a high jack, so be it. ;-)

And yes, agree checking the date codes on their tires is an excellent idea if purchased new or used & regardless of what the seller said.

Getting two year old tires on a new camper is something I never considered and probably 99% of buyers haven't either.

Good reminder ~ check the tire date codes molded into the tire when made.

Pleased to learn that.

I read lots of reviews on camper tires and the two that seemed to be ranked best are Goodyear Enduance and Maxxis.

Maxxis dealers seem to be more scarce than Goodyear and closest Maxxis dealer is about 300 miles away.......so the Goodyear choice was a no brainer. Plus, Goodyear dealers are located everywhere across the USA.
:)

For those interested, the 2012 XT-276 with optional 15" wheels/tires come with a 15x6" rim (stamped on the back side) and the spare is a tire of a different brand on a steel, white painted 15x5.5" rim.
