Bunk mods to 13' 189 FDS

We modified the bunk to better serve our needs as retired empty nesters. Now we enjoy increased headroom and less claustrophobia in our bed, and still have a fair amount of storage. The standard equipment overhead bunk is no more. :cool:

Very nicely done ! Your basic theory was the same as mine in my 189FDS. Except I just used an open bamboo shelf in that position. I use that shelf for lightweight items.
 
The cabinets are made from the original bunk cut down to 4' to fit the available space. So in other words there's no going back :eek: Also I removed the angle bracket from the opposite side above the window and attached it the wardrobe cabinet to support that side.
 
I use that side for my head and the other side for my feet:D

I would like to do same but I leave the bunk out without mattress,have bins for storage and put the cat food up there .I use a foldable shelf on the fridge wall as a step for cat to get up there to eat and get away from dog if needed.

Yes we hit our heads a lot but what can you do:rolleyes:
