Can't connect "Quick Connect" outside shower

Brand new 2014 camper. We have pushed and pushed, while pulling on the collar.....to no avail.

Any ideas,

Use some emery paper on the hose side in a twisting motion.

Quick Connect

My husband said to tell you to hook up sprayer before you turn on the
water. Reverse to disconnect, turn off water then unhook sprayer.
We didn't have this problem with last camper, but this hint solved
our dilemma.
