Not so sure I can call this a modification but we’ve acquired a counter-top ice maker from our daughter and S-I-L. They bought it (perhaps on a whim) to make crystal clear little ice cubes for cocktails. They used it for a while but became convinced that its use resulted in their power bill going up nearly $300/ month 
! Anyway, they didn’t want in anymore so we did some “horse trading’” for it. We plan on using it while camping. Our camper’s fridge doesn’t have an automatic ice maker and sure we could use an ice tray and manually make ice for cocktails but we thought the ice maker would be fun. Since we nearly always camp where there’s shore power/electric hook-ups, we’ll have an ample supply of ice to keep our beverages cool. The device specifications state 90-120 Watts. So, even if we were to run the ice maker continuously for 4 days, with the average WI kWh rate of just under 11cents, the cost would be ~$1.25! (I’m pretty sure I’m doing the calculation properly). I have no idea where the $300 increase came from but the ice maker wasn’t it.
I’m not yet exactly sure where it’s going to “live” in the camper but once on site, I’m thinking of setting it on the table we generally place under the awning outside of the camper. Considering the potential for theft, I may have to mount some sort of security cable to discourage “casual thieves”.
