Hi!

We are on our way to Jamala and another x139 drove past us and honked hello! It was super exciting and I tried to take a pic but it was too far ahead by the time I tried.

If it was someone on this board, HELLO!!

Nadine and Jim

Nope -- it wasn't me -- I never get to pass anybody!

Have a wonderful time in Jalama! I have heard that the burgers at the snack shack are great, if they are open. Isn't it amazing to see the hills so green? (For those of you who do not live in SoCal, the landscape is green for a few months a year, at most. And the past few winters, it was all brown, all the time, but we have just had a wonderfully wet December.)

Green hills in California sound great. Are wildflowers blooming as well? Water is a gift from the heavens. We take it for granted here in the Great Lakes and we shouldn't. It was 50 degrees here in northern Michigan yesterday. But back to 20's today.

No wildflowers yet -- that starts in February in the deserts and can last through July in the Sierras. Along the coast, peak season is March through May, depending on the amount and timing of the rains.

I'll post some pics of the beautiful green hills. But, get this, on the way home, we saw ANOTHER FF! It was one of the larger ones. And, I was able to snap a photo this time. I'll put it in the gallery :).

Jamala was beautiful! It's very much "off the beaten path" -- 27 miles off the 101, about one hour from Santa Barbara.

Since check-in is 3 pm, and it gets dark before 5 pm there's not a lot of time to enjoy the afternoon view, but it's a gorgeous one when you have it. Overnight was way too short!
