My 06 funfinder 189fbr sits under a carport on a permanent rv site at the lake.only been pulled 3 times. Next lot over is a early 90s skamper out in the open. No one has been in it in eight years.I walked in it yesterday to see it was in good shape. Little dirty but no leaks. That's when I felt stupid. There I sit with my 06 model with my sagging roof due to a air-conditioning gasket that wasn't installed correctly from the factory. Other cracks up front also let air-conditioning water seep in. Fixed the leaks 2 years ago but I guess it weakened the roof. So now I have to rebuild the roof. Sure would be fun just to go camping. Maybe I can use the abandoned skamper! Things just don't make since sometimes.

Those "egg" trailers are incredibly tough, but, they also cost. I looked at the Casita and Skamp when we bought our FunFinder. Light, all fiberglass, incredibly durable and wouldn't work for us in any way, shape or form. They have their uses, but, for the money they command (like Airstreams) and what you get in space, ammenities and comfort; I'll keep my FunFinder with its slide, walk around queen bed and dry bathroom with lots of tank and storage space for less than half the cost. 8)

Even with a whole new roof, you'll still be coming out cheaper than the initial cost of one of the all fiberglass trailers and all fiberglass has some drawbacks also (I know, I had an all fiberglass cabin cruiser back in the '70s...it is true; just a big hole in the water you keep throwing money into, RVing costs pale in comparison).

I know you are correct in what you are saying. Still a hard pill to swallow. Took one ceiling panel out to take a look.
It doesn't look to hard. I believe I can take the other panel down and jack the roof and build new bracing just beside the old ones. I hope it works because the local rv rip off guys want 6000 to replace the roof and rafters. I had an aluminium roof put on my house for less than that.
I do like the funfinder. Its small but just fine for my wife and I.

Yep... I feel your pain I, though, when faced with something like that tend to forget that in the over-all scheme of things, I really don't have it that bad; compared to others. Just sympathizing with you and trying to point out the "good" Just like your "sticks and bricks", even the RV sometimes need some TLC and "nursing" back to health.

You have a great way at looking at stuff Mr webslave. You are right. Big picture...in the end this all ain't gonna amount to hill of beans. I don't have it to bad either. Ha! Guess may be paying for my younger days a little. I will let ya know how or goes. Off next week so I may give it a shot if its not to hot. Thanks again!

So did you fix the roof? Just curious how it turned out and the cost to do the job yourself.
