Some of you might recall I'm just dying to be able to dry camp longer than I was able to last year, the biggest issue having been the power-sucking heater in the fridge, which I did not know existed.

I found the proper jumper to disconnect and alas, the heater is no more.

Today, I walked over to the trailer's garage, unplugged the trailer from shore power, and turned on the fridge. Because it was so hot in the garage, the fridge fan was blowing its little brains out. I waited for the gas to catch.

My New Handy-Dandy Clamp Meter showed 0.91A! YAY. The temp on the side of the trailer was 94, the air coming out of the top fridge went was 109, and the temp at the ceiling of the 14' garage was 111.

I do believe that is doable with 200W of solar hooked up to my new Group 31 AGM battery. I use nothing else off the battery (okay - LP sensor, too).

I turned on the fridge 2-3 hours ago and the freezer is down to 22 and the fridge is at 66.

FINALLY - it's all coming together...whatta feeling.

Our manual says:
"Heater-The heat necessary for the operation of an absorption cooling unit is supplied by an electric heater mounted in a pocket of the boiler system. 2 way models are equipped with one heater for 120 V AC.
3-way models are equipped with two heaters - one for 120V AC and one for 12V DC"
I wonder if disconnecting the heater is a good idea.

That switch has been eliminated in the newer versions.

Try prying THAT information out of Dometic...

Wow Michelle, sounds like you have your trailer almost fully assembled!

I can't imagine why they removed that 'climate control' switch. I turned mine off as soon as I read about it in the manual. You need humidity to get condensation and where I live most people don't even know what that word means.

They must have eliminated it after our manual. Ours still shows the DM2662 has it. But our manual is the 2006-2007 version.

My manual is 2014 and the only model listed with Climate Control System is the NDM1062.

Here is an email I received several months ago from Dometic after I questioned their original erroneous reply to my inquiry:

Hi Michelle,
I am very sorry for the error with the initial communication. The original version (RM2662) of the unit had an on/off on the unit, however the newer version (DM2662) of the unit do not have the on/off.

We appreciate this opportunity to address your situation and hope all of your future travels are trouble free. Please do not hesitate to contact us at any time to order parts or for further assistance.

Sincerely,
Michelle

ON EDIT: I just noticed the RM vs DM in the model numbers...

Weird because our manual shows the DM2662 had it back in 2008, yet he says it is the new version. (?????) that doesn't have it.
