Any electrical geniuses here?

The is an inline 30a fuse for the neg connection to my battery. It blows as soon as I connect to the battery.

Entire 12v system works fine with truck connected or 110v cord plugged in.

I have no idea whatsoever where to start looking for the problem!

Help!

Thanks, but its always been to the neg terminal and has worked fine in the past. Something probably got water into it over the winter, I don't know.

PS: I was curious about the neg vs pos for the fuse, and everything I read online confirmed the fuse belongs on the neg.

I guess its time to hang my head low.....

Whole problem solved by hooking the battery up properly! The fuse to prevent damage from reversed polarity did its job.....

I've been taking the battery out for winter and re-installing for 15 years, so you'd think I would have noticed that I dropped the battery into the box "backwards" and proceeded with hooking up the wires.

Oh well, and of course the fuse belongs on the pos side.

So add me to the group here who often say "don't ask me how I know"

Easy to do if the battery used is not marked + or - near the battery posts....or if both battery posts are the exact same size. Sometimes the + post is slightly larger than the - post.

Oh I wish........ They are quite well marked.

Just wasn't paying attention. Been doing this for years without problems. Just not paying attention. Sigh....

Proof that not paying attention = accidents.

And accidents happen but yours wasn't serious so be thankful.
