electronic trailer sway control

Electronic Sway control

Hi,
One way to stop trailer sway is to apply the trailer brakes manually with the trailer brake control lever. Also, I think the integrated GM truck electronic trailer sway system also applies both sides of the trailer brakes to control sway. I have no experience with the system you asked about, but it would seem it could work, especially if it is sophisticated enough to apply only one side of the trailer brakes as needed. However, I don't think it will eliminate the need for setting up the tow vehicle and trailer in a manner to reduce sway as much as possible.

I am not familiar with the system nor anyone who has one. However, for the $350 - $400 price to arbitrarily apply the trailer brakes seems a bit of overkill to me. And, depending on how sensitive the system is, one could wear out the trailer brakes in a very short time.

Seems only logical, mearly thumbing the manual braking lever on the electronic brake controller in the tow vehicle would accomplish the same thing ~ at no additional expense and only when the driver felt it was needed.

Then again, I have the Equalizer weight distribution hitch with built in sway control and even traveling in high cross and angular winds, have never experienced any trailer sway of an uncomfortable nature what-so-ever.

Just my 2 cents worth.
