Flatter Ceiling Lights

Can you tell I'm bored and unable to work on the camper? We almost 1/2 way through a 2 month trip and although I have some tools and my sewing machine with me, all the projects that I'm coming up with have to wait until I get home

So I'm stuck in the 'planning' stage of all my projects ... awning, shower valve, and now this - flatter ceiling lights! My hubby is 6'3" and clears the ceiling until it comes to the lights and a/c. I keep threatening to cut a hole and lift up the a/c a couple inches

Anyway, to finally get to the point - has anyone replace the hulking ceiling lights with flatter lights? If I could find some nice flat lights, he could actually move without hunching over haha I'm thinking of something like these:

Rats, I think they stick out as much as the ones that are here now.

Of course, I just replaced the bulbs with leds LOL so now I'm going to replace the fixtures - ha!

Wow ~ didn't realize the ceilings were so low in your unit.

I'm 6'2" and more than ample overhead room in the XT276.

The ceilings are 6' 4". My husband is 6' 3". With shoes on he's just about 6' 4" so anything that projects from the ceiling causes an issue LOL I just keep telling him he needs to take his shoes off in the camper. If he takes his shoes off he can sort of clear the lights.

Of course we're getting older so we're shrinking LOL soon we'll be able to clear the lights and the air conditioner.

I believe there are ultra-thin recessed LED lights available at Amazon.

if I wired them straight into the ceiling 12v ... Could I do that? I guess I'd have to add an on/off switch.

You can wire those directly to a 12V power source. It's not entirely clear from the description, but I see that remote has an on/off switch so you might not need to install one. Although you could. At 5500 K those will be cool white lights so you'll get that sort of bluish/white color.

THANKS! You sound like you know what you're talking about, so here's another question, can you tell how bright they are? I replaced my bulbs with kinda dim led bulbs, but they are fine for us. Don't think I can go any dimmer, though.

If I'm reading it right these should be 720 lumens which is close to a 60W incandescent bulb at 800 lumens.

Thanks! I couldn't find than anywhere. Hubby is resisting me over this, lol, it's 'good enough' the way it is. So I guess it's back to twiddling my thumbs

Wow those are beautiful! And affordable! Two questions... 1) can you even recess anything into the thin ceiling of the 189FBR? and it looks like they have a pin system, how would I wire them in?

I am a dummy regarding these things but someone else will have info I'm sure.

Those aren't pins in the photo, they're springs to hold the fixture in place once you pop it through the hole. (Click on the image and it brings up window with more pics.) I doubt you would have enough space in the ceiling to accommodate those springs.

One other thing; the lights are very small.

But it does say "Spring Clips Mount - Neat finish after installation. Spring clips, no screwing requires, mounting hole depth only 0.6", cutting hole 2.4""

Oh doh!! I guess it would help if I actually looked closely. Plus, I need lights with on/off switches.
