For Those with a Propane/Electric Hot Water Heater FYI

We recently stayed at a campground with full hook-ups. Rather then using the propane to heat the hot water, we used the electric. One thing I forgot to do was to turn the electric hot water heater off before we left. The next time we went out, as usual, I hooked up the trailer to the home electric receptacle in order to cool the refrigerator. I didn't realize that the hot water heater was still on! We were lucky. There was enough water in the water heater so that the element did not burn out.

Lesson learned. Always make sure the water heater is filled with water prior to turning it on in either in the gas or electric mode and that you make sure if your heating with electric you always turn it off before leaving your campsite.

Regards,
Alan

When I winterize the system I pump out the hot/ cold water at the sink.
when it is empty.after bypassing heater and winterizing lines I remove the anoid and alot of water comes out of water heater.
I would say enough not to harm heater.
I travel with at least 1/3 tank so im never empty.
You might need some water on the road
