Fun Finder Questions

I just joined the forum, but have been reading for a while. I recently sold my motorhome and I am now getting serious about my travel trailer purchase. The Fun Finders are at the top of my list.

I was initially taken by the 210WBS and still like that model for many reasons, but have recently been eyeing the 230DS. The only issue I have with the 230DS is the fact that it has no outside storage. I show small dogs and typically have 4 or 5 with me at any time. The trailer would also be used for family vacations as well. I like the amount of open space this model affords. I can't deal with the "bowling alley" feeling that I get when I walk into so many other brands. The Fun Finder plans are very well done.

I understand that the queen bed in the 230DS does lift up for storage? Does anyone have dimensions of that available storage area? The other question I have is regarding the cabinetry on the left side as soon as you come in the door on the 230DS...for those that have this model - how easy would that be to remove? Is it just a matter of a few screws? I would need that cabinet to come out so that I can stack crates there. In addition, can anyone give the depth of the TV cabinet so that I can get an idea how far my crates would stick out into the living space?

Also, does anyone have photos of the bike rack or other 'storage' options they have come up with for this model? Any way to put a hitch on the back and put a hitch platform on the back for extra storage?

Thanks in advance for any and all help you can provide!

Hi Ragan!

We have had a DS230 since April of 08 and love it but we found the exact same issue, lack of storage, with our 230, but we manage. This afternoon I will measure the storage under the bed, the dimensions of the ent. cabinet and look to see what is involved with removing the cabinets in the front room.

One modification I have made is adding a Curt RV Bumper Trailer Hitch Receiver. See... http://www.etrailer.com/pc-UMH~E-100.htm

It slides onto the rear bumper and bolts into place and allows you to mount a cargo carrier/bike rack or even tow a small trailer behind the 230. We use ours for a bike rack and it works great.

How did the bumper on your DS230 hold up on road and what have you carried on it? Bikes?
Thanks

Hey Jack!

I am happy to report the bumper has suffered no problems at all, no deflection, twist, bend, nothing. So far I have used it to carry a 3 place bike carrier with 2 bikes, also carried a utility platform loaded with a 100lb generator. The setup works great!

Hope this helps, let me know if there is anything else...

Wow great news on a bike rack. I was just thinking of how much of a pain to get the bike inside the trailer would be. It won't fit in my TV because the TV is packed to the gills for my work. I am going to order one today!! Thanks for putting that link on.
