We purchased 2 2000 wat generators for our Fun Finder trailer this year. We still have a lot of gasoline left in the generators. Now that it is the end of our season and getting cold here in Utah, is it safe to leave the gasoline in or should we drain them out for the season? Thanks

You can handle it a number of ways. You can shut off the valve between the gas tank and the carb while the generator is running to run it out of gas. The gas left in the gas tank could benefit from the addition of a gas stabilizer while the generator is stored for the winter.

I like to have my generators available during the winter in case of a power outage at home. I put gas stabilizer in the the gas tank and run the generator for awhile to get the stabilizer into the carb. I use Sea Foam for a stabilizer. Others have had success with a number of other products.

If you don't take one of these approaches, you run the risk of gumming up the needle valve in the carb. which has an adverse effect on how the generator runs.

I use Sta-Bil gas stabilizer in all my gas powered yard & garden equipment AND the pair of Honda eu2000i generators.

Added hint: Should you forget or find the engine running erratically or 'looping', no need to tear down the carb for cleaning/rebuilding. Instead use Berryman B-12, either as a gas additive or in a spray can, shoot some into the air intake. Works EXCELLENT.

As an added comment, with generators store them in a dry environment or the recommendation is to run them at full rate for 20 minutes when storing them for extended periods. Removes moisture and condensation from the generator itself. Silverado

Hint: I've also read one should start a generator and let it run for about 5 minutes so it "equalizes" the power output before putting a load on. Maybe an electrician can chime in with more information.
