I am very excited!! brake controller installed, much of the outside maintenance and repair under control. we are going to leave on our first adventure tomorrow morning. our first few nights will be in my sister's driveway. We are visiting our niece and her boys there, and they have a full house. So our guest room is the fun finder. after a few days there, we will just sort of wander back home. staying wherever strikes our fancy. possibly 3 rivers state park, possible manzanita state park, possibly caballo lake to kayak and relax. well, we will relax anywhere we end up. so dachshunds will be on board, and we will have what ever we need for 5-6 days, including my "real" camera.

mostly packed, very excited!!

brake controller; it feels very different from driving without it. It feels like the trailer is stopping the van. is this right? I keep turning it down, but I'm just not sure how it is supposed to feel.

Are the trailer wheels locking up when you apply the brakes? If so, then yes they still need adjustment. If not, then you're probably ok. I assume you followed the adjustment procedure in the controller manual.

Enjoy your trip! Dachshunds make great camping buddies!

the shop said they did the adjustment procedure. I am going to check the manual and see what I should know. maybe it does feel like they are locking up, come to think of it. thanks!

I am not sure how others adjust their trailer brakes but I like to drive at a slow speed on a smooth gravel road and apply the brakes on the trailer with the brake controller. If they will lock up on gravel but not on asphalt or pavement I am satisfied. Silverado

I received a phone call yesterday informing me I will be able to pickup my toy hauler from the inside winter storage at the local fairgrounds April 19th. WHOOO WHOOOOO!

I hope the weather warms enough so most of the snow has melted by then.

First thing on my 'to do' list is check if the two fire extinguishers in it are on the fire extinguisher recall list.

Then, will prep it for the first outing as long as the weather has warmed up.

:)

Thank you, this worked perfectly for us! A few trips, and we feel Comfortable driving down hill on windy roads.
