Issue with High Pointe microwave oven,

Out camping for the first time of the season with my '07 FF X210. Amazingly, no major issues with plumbing, water heater, propane. No signs of rodent attack either. I am however having an issue with the microwave oven. The clock doesn't illuminate and none of the panel buttons function. Strangely, when the door is opened the inside light comes on AND the glass turntable is turning very slowly. Again, none of the control buttons function. I unplugged the unit from it's dedicated plug inside the cabinet above the sink and plugged it back in. Still behaving the same.
Instruction booklet that came with the FF for the High Pointe oven doesn't address this in the troubleshooting guide.
Has anyone had a similar issue? Is there a "reset" button on the back of the unit? My next step is to remove the trim and see if the unit is easy to remove. WE have an appliance repair shop here in town but I'm wondering if replacement might be less expensive in the long run.

I replaced our microwave at the end of last summer. The turntable was turning only on random occasions. I think it was just that it's 10 years old, whether or not it got much use. I just removed it and bought a 900 watt Kenmore microwave and put it in for about $70. I just saw a similar micro at Walmart for about $50. We didn't want too much power because we often are plugged in at someone's house and don't want to blow the fuses :)

I can show you exactly how I did it if you're interested, but basically, just unscrew the metal restraining grills and lift out the old microwave. I can't remember if they're screwed to the microwave or not, but if so remove the plates to use for the new one. I took the air deflectors off and saved them, too, but didn't use them on the new microwave.

To mount the new one, I had to add a board for height, then I put foam weather stripping on the edges of the metal grills so that I could press them down tightly on the top & bottom of the new micro. I think that provides plenty of resistance to movement, plus it actually can't fall out of the space because the legs are lower than the front grill. For extra security, I screwed down four soda bottle caps and put the legs of the microwave into them before I put the grills back. After a couple thousand miles, the micro hasn't budged. It's a little narrower than the one that came in the camper, so now I have storage for the bacon tray :) win-win!!

Thanks for the replies. I was pretty sure that replacement was going to be the answer. Bouncing down the road can't be good for the internal components. I've replaced a failed unit in our home's kitchen that was mounted in a very similar fashion. Shouldn't be too hard. Truth be told, we don't really use it too much. Thawing hot dogs and heating water for what my wife calls "coffee" are it's primary duties ;-) and both can be accomplished by other means.

Yes, we don't really "cook" in a microwave either. We mainly use it for thawing frozen meat, warming up leftovers and reheating coffee. I do think that the convection would bake better than the little RV ovens. Many say they are terrible at keeping the heat even.
 
Curious if anyone that has a convection microwave actually used the convection part?

We opted for the convection microwave 'cause the wife wanted it.....but in 5 years have NEVER even tried the convection part.

They bake like a conventional oven only faster. They brown things like a regular oven also. You dial down the temperature 25 degrees. The directions can seem daunting. Maybe too much trouble for some. We could not make the one from the F2F fit into the Shastas cabinet. Freshly baked cookies in an rv would be a treat.

I replaced our High Pointe with a unit from these folks, too. At 10 years old, the only things that worked were the turntable and the display. Now that I think of it, I just replaced a $160 coffee warmer. Hmmmm. Then again, a happy wife makes for a happy life!

Got it!! Lol! Before my husband broke his coffee habit he would be re-heating his cup all day...over and over. Constant beeping. He would sip it, not drink it. But I'm so proud of him because now he is one cup in the morning except occasionally. The caffeine used to keep him on edge a lot and interfered with his sleep big time.
