It looks like seal at the top of the door to the storage area is leaking. I've cleaned out the storage compartment and bought some clear silicone stuff for the repair.

Now if it would only stop raining so I can fix it!!

I guess I shouldn't be surprised, the warranty was up 2 weeks ago... (sigh)

Motor vehicles, appliances, electronics or you name it ~ tend to experience problems as soon as the warranty expires......even if you purchase the 'extended warranty' for extra $$$.

Go figure .....

Don't use silicone. It won't seal well and will be a pain to remove. The best thing to use is butyl caulking. It seals well and stays pliable.

I agree with LJAZ on this. There are many, many different types of silicone sealants, some very specialized in their chemical makeup. Using the wrong compound in certain applications can actaully cause damage in some cases. Some of them don't play nicely with aluminum for instance and actually cause corrosion. And like LJAZ mentions, almost all of them are very difficult to separate and remove if need be.

Thanks for the info LJAZ. I've already applied the silicone stuff to a patch about 3 inches long. I will try to replace it later on in the season when it isn't raining every other day.
So far I haven't been able to find the butyl caulking (not listed for Home Depot or Lowes) but I will keep looking.

Any of these would suffice. The tape is particularly easy to work with depending on the application.
