Not sure I'm crazy about the mattress in my new trailer. I'd upgraded in the last one to something I got from Camping World, but they sure do seem a lot more expensive this time around.

What is everyone else doing? Stock one? Something better?
 
The one that came in our 2010 was pure garbage. You could feel each individual spring. I put it beside our trash before ever sleeping on it. Replaced with a regular queen mattress from Costco. Sleep better in the trailer than at home now.

We're still using the one that came with the trailer new and it's pretty comformatable. But then again we typically only go for short trips 3-4 days at a time.
There's a lot more options out there than CW which is typically not the cheapest. There's quite a few online mattress dealers with tons of options available if CW doesn't have what you want.
 
Save your money. Keep the old hard mattress, just add a memory foam topper to it. We added a 3" and it is more comfortable than our mattress at home.

We have done this for years on boats we have owned. More cost effective than buying a new mattress.
 
The 'factory mattress' that came with our XT276 is in all reality, a super poor excuse for a mattress. Tried it one night and out the door it went. Replaced it with a standard queen size mattress from local furniture store. It's only about 3" longer than the 'camper size queen' but the overhand on the foot end doesn't bother anything. And being 6'2", I like the extra length so my feet don't hang in mid air!!
 
purchased gel foam mattress topper from Sams club. Much better and only $100.00!

Actually we tried one of those too and still impossible to sleep on plus the foam is hot. We returned it and got a new mattress from the furniture store. I'm sure having two back surgeries and the wife one back surgery made some difference in our needs as well.
 
We bought a gel foam mattress short queen for our 210 FF ~$300. from an on line auction site . Fits perfect and we love it.
It's about 10 in. tall and a little hard to get out of but laying down you can't beat it.
 
If I had $$ falling out of my pockets, I'd get a sleep number. Have one at home and most comfortable thing I've ever slept on.

Have you considered a waterbed in the trailer? In my neck of the woods a big conversation now centers on earthquakes (the big one) and Tsunamis. A waterbed would serve two purposes; 1) a comfortable bed to sleep on (we used one for thirty years) and 2) extra water storage. :)

Maybe this is just my solution to my problem.

I had a waterbed for years before switching to the Sleep Number bed that uses air pressure.

The waterbed water is 'treated' water and I don't think that would be good to drink.
Water bed mattresses have some fairly strong algae inhibitors in them and the waterbed treatment is poisonous as far as I am aware.
 
OH, and don't forget, a gallon of water weights about 8 pounds. And a waterbed holds how many gallons? Number of gallons times 8 pounds = hundreds of pounds of extra weight!
 
Before you buy a foam mattress, you may want to 'try one out' for several days. My nephew purchased an expensive one for his home (about $2,000 IIRC) and got rid of it in a month or two.
It was hot to sleep on as the body heat would not dissipate and caused one to sweat in bed....and he is in his 20's and fit within gov't height/weight specs being just out of the military from Afganistain.
