Hi! I just bought a Fun Finder X160, and took it on my shake-out trip last weekend. It's awesome! I'm new to trailers, so I have a lot to learn (like backing up, how to use all the features, etc. etc.). I have three dogs, all Australian Shepherds, and I'll mainly be using the Fun Finder to go to herding competitions. A lot of the time I'll be dry camping--any advice about how to do that most comfortably?

Thanks,
Sallyf

Greetings Sallyf!

I have only dry camped twice, so not a lot of experience with it, but I would suggest a small portable generator if at all possible, or at a minimum, get a second battery installed.

Lights, water pumps and other electrical functions can drain the single battery over the coarse of a couple days. With two batteries you will have a good supply. Remember to place a trickle charger on the batteries in the days leading up to your trip.

A generator is very nice to have for many reasons, and many are available that are light weight, pretty quiet and can power your unit on a couple gals of fuel. I purchased a 120/240 volt 3500 Watt Champion generator that has RV hook-ups. It serves dual duty of RV use and back up power for the house. It is not as quiet as a smaller Honda or Subaru generators are, but I figured having 240V would be a benefit. For RV use I am saving up to get a Honda. They are a bit more expensive, but are very small and very quiet.

Hope this helps, good luck!!

Generators

Hi Keyser (great name, BTW!)
Thanks for your reply. I'm thinking that a generator would be the way to go, and I've been looking online at them. The Hondas look pricey, but they also seem lightweight and easy to handle. Guess I'll start saving my bucks!

I agree with ya, a generator is a nice addition for dry camping. I wish I would have gotten the Honda right off the bat, my Champion is not quiet, and weighs 100lbs. Good luck!
