[Hi Fun Finder Friends!

New tires set at 50 psi. They cause the camper to sway and bounce at normal speeds. A dip in the road, passing truck, wind, curve in the road. Everything! Feels damgerous...my previous tires didn't bounce an ounce. What size tires are right for my little baby?

Thanks in advance..

Hi Maggie —

Assuming you bought actual trailer tires, and a good brand, and they were balanced properly —

The tire pressure of most travel trailers remains between 40 and 65 psi. The ratings are for trailers that weigh somewhere from 1,500 lbs to 15,000 lbs.

Since the 139 is a lighter, single axle trailer — try lowering the air pressure to 40 psi — fill your trailer with your normal “take” gear, and fill your water tank & Lp tanks.

Then see how it rides.

Some of the less expensive tires will bounce or not ride very smoothly.

I run Goodyear Endurances — and have had very good performance from them on my twin axle 189FBS.

Best, Fred

Hi Fun Finder Friends,
I found out the cause of this sway. S
Although the tires zwere new...my shocks and springs on the Pathfinder were not! I needed new shocks and springs on my 06 Pathfinder!!

Thanks for letting us know.

Good move and good sleuthing.

On our ‘02 4X4 Tacoma — I installed a 1-Ton extra leaf under the rear leaf spring stack, HD shocks front and rear, HD coils in the front, Air-Helper bags, and 10-Ply Tires.

Best, Fred

I replaced my Good Year Marathons a few months ago with the Endurance tires. The Endurance tires I believe allow for 65 psi, the Marathons were maxed at 50 psi. I have a 136x, the Marathons were excellent tires heck they looked brand new when I changed them. I replaced them because they hit the 5 year mark. I use max tire pressure with the Endurance tires and they seem to make my trailer track smoother at higher speed than the Endurance.
