Northern California - Best Campgrounds to visit

Looking for some recommendations for spots that fellow Fun Finder owners enjoy in Northern California. I am a new owner and first Travel Trailer so while I have camped extensively and have a 34' tropical I mainly used it for lake trips. Now the wife and I are looking to explore and find scenic relaxing spots to just enjoy nature and each other while being able to meet other great people. Please let me know of your favorite spots and any pics would be a great add.

You just answered my question on your other thread -- I posted it too quickly. Anyway, NorCal is camping heaven. The real issues are whether you need hookups, whether you prefer campgrounds or boondocking, and what sorts of activities you prefer (hiking? fishing? etc.). So if you have a moment, give us some more guidance, and we can make some recommendations. Also, approximately where in NorCal do you live?

I live in Brentwood, California Delta area. We were big into boating previously but since the kids have grown up and I am tired of beating up my body wakeboarding we are looking to do a little bit of hiking and fishing. Its more of just getting into some scenic places to relax. We are already planning on coastal camping and the big Redwood Forrest. I also want to find some good spots on the Truckee river.
I have all the needs to boondock-it but its always nice to have hook-ups. We can do either if its a great spot to go. Going to even plan on some trips to So-Cal and Nevada for some desert spots. Just saw some pics on a thread that looked awesome.

Great pics and looks like you had an enjoyable time.

Curious if you carry any type of animal repellent should a bear or other such critter with an unpleasant attitude become upset with your presence?

Pepper spray, mace, Taser or a large caliber handgun come to mind.

We have powerful cans of bear spray -- we carry them in grizzly country, not in Calif. We have never felt threatened by anyone or anything while boondocking. In campgrounds on weekends near big cities, we have seen some rowdy drunks, but nothing serious. We keep a very clean campsite, so that bears are not attracted to the trailer.

Looks like a killer trip, the photos are amazing. That's definitely some boondock camping. One day we will take a trip like that.

G-money, there are lots of campgrounds near the areas where we were hiking -- all within four hours of your home!!
