Picked Up TT, Quality Control Lacking

So I picked up our Shadow Cruiser 280 QBS Friday and must say they need to slow down and take a LITTLE pride in their workmanship. Loose, misaligned hinges, putty smeared on everything, miscut and loose trim. Rust stains on fiberglass, LED's burnt out in light strip, cabinet clips bent and misaligned. We pay a pretty good coin for these things just wish they'd do a better job on the finishing touches. Have a huge list of things to fix and add but after those are done I'm hoping we'll love this camper.

Have you spoken to the dealer about these issues? Also, where are you located, and where will you go for your first big trip!

Under the assumption you purchased your unit new & did a 'walk thru' with the dealer; the vast majority if not all of the items you listed SHOULD have been corrected by your selling dealer before leaving ~ and if not, you should have declined acceptance IMO.

This is my third camper and figured these are all cosmetic fixes I can fix myself. The front led lights are blue and I was going to change out anyways to white. The way to fix these as instructed by the dealer is to try and drill a 1/4"plus size hole next to the wires(without cutting them?!) in order to get the wire nuts out. They assemble the wiring and then put the front cap on so there is no way to access these wire connections. Don't drop the wires or you're pulling the whole front cap off.

All of these things I'd just as soon fix myself so I know it's done right and I don't have to make a second trip back to the dealer who is an 1 1/2 hours away. During my search at the RV shows I noticed this lack of quality in many brands. I 've come to accept these are just campers but for what you pay I expect a little more. If they'd cut back on the putty smeared on all the cabinets and trim that in itself would save a few bucks.

Yep. Now you're talking ! You're right it's a bit sad that we have to "finish and correct the assembly process", but love it or hate it, it's the current state of the RV industry.

By the way, welcome and enjoy the new camper ! It's all about getting out and doing a little camping and traveling. So that makes fixing some things worthwhile.

That is excellent...cosmetic fixes are far safer than the screw-ups in the auto industry with defective air bags, dangerous fuel tanks, defective steering assemblies, and other such defects that can and have caused injury or death.

AS irritating as they are, those imperfections are minor in comparison but that does not make them acceptable. Attention to detail would be a plus.

Just bought a 2014 266-KIRB. Same kind of stuff. Bought it with full disclosure, and the dealer has it back getting everything fixed.

Trailer brakes threw a pad on the first trip. Furnace went out on the second trip.

Despite all of that, my sense is that, once we have all the kinks worked out, it will be a nice little trailer.
